 Chasing Blue  

         

The color blue is associated with open spaces, imagination, inspiration, and sensitivity. Everything having to do with my childhood home. It is a space where I go to, to recollect myself, where I find new inspiration, but is also a space where I do not always want to go back to. For the body the color blue is supposed to be calming, can invoke rest, and can help balance self-expression. When flipping through the images you can see the color blue on the background of the black and white negative prints and even in details of the digital images. I want the color blue to be an indicator for the viewer to be able to continue through each image. For me blue is not a happiness color or sadness color, it is an in between feeling where I feel both. I am using the color as a metaphor for I feel for when I visit my childhood home. When first deciding to take photographs of my childhood home, I knew by taking the images I would feel more connected with the space and family who live there. I also realized I would keep having to come back to the space to keep taking pictures.
